Quote of the week. . .

To the father of my children...

He didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.

Autumn at the Pehrson

We are in the midst of our Autumn activities....Carl's garden is great! We are just beginning to reap all of the goodies. So far we have put up a few peaches, beans, bread & butter pickles, tomato soup, and jalapeno jelly (very interesting flavor!)

We have two huge cherry tomato plants that are yielding more every day....there are going to be hundreds of them!!! Whoo Hoo! They are as tall as the corn stalks! Our corn isn't on yet, but will be soon. We have a great crop of pumpkins....about 20 with some that are already oranging up. A mess of beans, a few carrots and cucumbers. Lots and lots of zucchini -both green and yellow- and winter squash.

Our sunflowers are gigantic! Just take a peek....
Our animals are enjoying all of the good weather and good eatings, too.

Of course, there is the porch gang and our sweet little Olivia, trying to catch bubbles! Love her to pieces!!!!

Most of all, Scott is enjoying being outside again...I tried to get a close up of his cute little smiling face as he sat outside after getting home from the hospital. Gotta love this country life!!!

Pehrson Camp Out-August 2009

The Pehrson Family held their annual Campout & Bear Lake Outing this month on the 14th & 15th. As it turned out, not the greatest choice of weekends, the weather didn't cooperate too much! But, it all turned out good in the end.

There were 36 of us there! The food was great (corn on the cob, Bar-B-Q sandwiches, salad, beans, and 3 different kinds of cobblers...yum, yum, yum! Grandpa brought slides for a slide show at dark; games & s'mores around the campfire; rain through the night. Woke up to freezing weather... Brrrr! Most everyone chickened out for going to Bear Lake so different groups went hiking at Old Limber Pine, Ice Caves and repelling , and then those that could met at Janice's for lunch in Logan. Here are a few pictures of clan!

He's Back!

After a looooooooong siege in the hospital with our Scottie boy, he is back home and doing well....except for somewhere along the way he learned to fine tune his whining! He is happy-except when he is whining-and looking good after losing 17 pounds! (What a way to lose weight, Buddy.)

We'll omit all of the gruesome details here in the blog . Just know that we had a close call with Scott, but Heavenly Father decided that we still needed to learn some things from Him. We are so grateful that he is still with us, and grateful for the powerful prayers that were said in his behalf. It has helped us to see just how precious he is to us and to appreciate being with him each and every day. Carl & I truly feel blessed to have him in our lives, and though he presents challenges to us and sacrifices on our part, he brings so much happiness and purpose into our lives. Couldn't love you more, Bud!

We owe a lot of thanks to family and friends for all of their support and caring for Scott and for us during this time. Especially to Michele do we owe so much...her constant care and support of Scott and her concern for our needs, too. She would not leave his side and said many prayers in his behalf. We love you, Michele! And we know that Anna and Jenny also said many prayers in his behalf. We know that you wanted to be here, girls, but we felt of your presence and support.

So, now we go forward with grateful hearts and a determination to enjoy our times together even more and to be thankful for the opportunity we have to be an eternal family.
